Yesterday was an archive of flower shots. So I went into my archive looking for an abstract subject and hit upon river and creek photos. Mainly eastern locations, but a few others snuck in.
Just a reminder of how much of a role flowing water plays in our lives. And man has played a role in modifying these flows — for both good and bad effects. Hopefully we have learned some lessons by now.
The Daily Bucket is a nature refuge. We amicably discuss animals, weather, climate, soil, plants, waters and note life’s patterns.
We invite you to note what you are seeing around you in your own part of the world, and to share your observations in the comments below.
Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the phenological patterns that are quietly unwinding around us. To have the Daily Bucket in your Activity Stream, visit Backyard Science’s profile page and click on Follow.

Above is a good geology shot showing a stream eroding sedimentary rocks. The shelving effect is from some layers being more resistant than others.
Another geology picture showing a wide shelf. The “clear” area is very wide from spring flooding. When the picture was taken the creek was only flowing through about 1/4th of the width.
