President Trump has made a reckless and unprincipled decision to surrender America's leadership on the world stage and walk away from the most groundbreaking international climate agreement in history, I'm writing today to urge all who read this blog and who care about our nation and our planet to please write your Congressman/woman and US Senators step and urge them to affirm the Paris Agreement by a veto-proof majority vote.
President Trump's decision to repudiate the Paris Accord on Climate Change is unprincipled because he is doing it out of his hatred of former President Obama, which fuels his rabid desire to undo all of Obama's legislative and diplomatic achievements, rather than whether the agreement is beneficial to the health and WEALTH of the nation.
Leaving this agreement threatens our health and our economy, which is exactly why major American companies, including our largest oil company, EXXON-MOBIL, asked President Trump to affirm the United States' involvement in the Agreement and assume the leadership of the fight to stave off the life-threatening affects of Climate change.
The United States' leadership on climate change strengthens our competitiveness in global markets, adds clean energy manufacturing jobs that are growing fastest in parts of the country where workers have been left behind by globalization, and protects the health of all Americans, particularly children.
Our failure to remain in the Paris Climate Agreement means that Europe, China, and others will lead instead, and puts America last.
It is now up to our elected legislators in Congress to ensure that America stays true to our word, and our values, and put forth a common-sense practical, scientifically-based plan to address climate pollution immediately.
