In a shocking turn of events, it was discovered that former President Obama received damaging information on the Romney campaign in a unconfirmed quid pro quo for releasing certain sanctions against the government of Iran.
Nope. Sorry. This is total malarkey.
But think for a second about this shocking headline and how republicans would react to this, even if there was a cloud around what is known and unknown.
They would call for impeachment immediately, Call a Grand Jury. Install a Special Prosecutor before the day would be out. But don’t expect them to EVER turn the mirror on themselves.
The hypocrisy of the right is infuriating, and the idiocy of those who see every sourced fact as fake is as scary as it’s gotten in this country. It’s not hard to see how Germany and other countries succumb to the cult of personality we see in the monster that inhabits our White House, and the morally corrupt who work for him.
But by the midterms we will likely have a majority of Democrats in either the House or Senate, despite the musings of the moment that they do not have the momentum or ability (nobody thought we’d have another Republican President based on demographics several years ago either).
The one problem is, like the installation of Pelosi and Reed back in the 2000’s, the Democrats NEVER SEEM TO HAVE THE STOMACH to attempt impeachment proceedings. They completely dropped the ball on George W. Bush, saying they were sparing the country, and will do the same if they have the power here for fear of making the people “angry.”
It is our job to ensure that whomever we elect to office in the midterm understands that, pending incriminating evidence of collusion or cooperation with a hostile foreign government, Trump and his corrupt group must be held accountable to make sure our democracy remains strengthened and acts like this are punished. Our reps will try to downplay it, mark my words. It’s what our side always does.
But they cannot be allowed to this time.

I’ve gotten a few comments requesting that I change the title for fear that the right may see it and exploit it wrongly. This is exactly what I’m talking about above. While I understand the concern, this knee jerk reaction to be frightened of what the other side will do is our failing.
We have to be the party that is aggressive, determined, and fights back. Being so very proper, considerate, and worried about “what others think” gets you nowhere — in politics and life.
Shock value has exactly that — value.
