Jemele Hill, a co-anchor for ESPN’s ”SportsCenter,” apparently got in trouble for tweeting the truth about President Trump and calling him a white supremacist and bigot on Monday. In a series of tweets, Hill succinctly summarizes how white supremacy got Trump into office with so much support.
Where is the lie? I can’t find it. Unfortunately, ESPN is too afraid to have one of their employees call the Trump administration for what it is and made an apology for her remarks.
It reads:
ESPN Statement on Jemele Hill:
“The comments on Twitter from Jemele Hill regarding the president do not represent the position of ESPN. We have addressed this with Jemele and she recognizes her actions were inappropriate.”
It’s sad that telling the truth was deemed inappropriate by ESPN, but it’s not terribly surprising. ESPN is a company first and foremost—and they want as many viewers as possible. They spend almost $2 billion every year for its NFL rights and considering the declining ratings for the professional sport, they likely want to minimize losses due to politics. Folks are already boycotting due to the association’s teams ostracizing former San Francisco player Colin Kaepernick.
