Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar’s (D. MN) re-election campaign:
Yesterday I took to the Senate floor to oppose the latest version of the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. The bill is just as "mean" (those are the President's words...remember?) as earlier versions. It cuts millions off of health care, socks our rural hospitals, and does nothing to reduce the prices of prescription drugs. Meanwhile it would tube the important bipartisan work being done in the Senate as we are close to an agreement on changes to the Affordable Care Act that would reduce prices for those in the exchanges.
Republicans and Democrats in Minnesota agreed to a plan and I think we can do the same in the Senate. But not if this repeal bill passes.
Join me in telling the Republicans in the Senate: Now is the time for bipartisan solutions, not partisan bills that kick millions off of health care.
Thanks,
Amy
P.S. Certain states -- including Minnesota -- would be particularly hurt by this bill. That is why Midwestern leaders, including the Republican Governor of Ohio, have come out against this bill.
P.P.S. There is no official Congressional Budget Office score on this bill, which means that no one knows exactly how it would impact each state. Why would we mess around with people's health care without knowing that?
