Monday afternoon, progressive activist group Demand Justice unveiled their compilation of the 29 instances of perjury by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in his two separate hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Within a few hours, that list was expanded to 31, when we found out that Kavanaugh lied twice about Deborah Ramirez's accusations that he exposed himself to her in college.
He lied to committee staff before the hearing about Ramirez calling around to their mutual friends who were there to see if others remembered it. In fact, it was Kavanaugh getting in touch with those friends ahead of the story becoming public, trying to do damage control. Then he lied about it again in the hearing.
Kavanaugh told the Senate Judiciary Committee under oath that the first time he heard of Ramirez’s allegation was in the Sept. 23 article in The New Yorker.
Kavanaugh was asked by Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, when he first heard of Ramirez's allegations. Kavanaugh answered: "In the New Yorker story."
It is in fact more than a little curious that Hatch even asked about the timeline, as if Hatch were helping Kavanaugh out here, knowing about the fact that Kavanaugh had been essentially witness tampering possibly as far back as July, if NBC's reporting is correct.
Kavanaugh is a liar and Republicans are helping him with those lies. They're not just ignoring them, they're abetting them! An FBI investigation isn't even necessary to demonstrate that. Just to give cover to the Republicans who are desperate to to find some justification for their "yes" votes.
It's time to shut Mitch McConnell and the Republicans down. Please help with $3 to our Senate candidates.
