ActBlue is a wonderful thing, as it allows you to gather together any number of individual Democratic candidate campaign funds onto a single donation page.
Right after the 2016 disaster, I made a personal and lofty goal of trying to raise at least $100,000 for 2018 Democratic candidates. I’m happy to report that I exceeded that goal by 34%, raising over $134,000, including over $30,000 for candidates right here in my home state of Michigan.
Now that the election is over, I know everyone’s wallet and credit card is feeling pretty worn out...but there are still races which haven’t been called yet, and there’s even some races which still haven’t happened yet!
That’s right, I’m talking about the recounts and runoff elections in Florida and Georgia...but also Mississippi and possibly Texas!
With that in mind, I’ve whipped up another ActBlue page which lets you easily donate to up to eight recount/runoff candidates at once, including:
- Bill Nelson (Florida Senate)
- Andrew Gillum (Florida Governor)*
- Stacey Abrams (Georgia Governor)
- Mike Espy (Mississippi Senate)
- Nikki Fried (Florida Agriculture Commissioner)
- Gina Ortiz Jones (Texas 23rd District)
- Carolyn Bordeaux (Georgia 7th District)
- John Barrow (Georgia Secretary of State)
- Katie Hobbs (Arizona Secretary of State) < Just Added!!
*Donations to Gillum will go to his “Forward Florida” PAC
Oh, and consider this: Seeing how Kyrsten Sinema appears to have won AZ-Sen, assuming Nelson is able to win the Florida recount and Mike Espy is able to pull off an unlikely win in Mississippi, the Democrats could end up with a net loss of zero Senate seats this year, which would be an amazing accomplishment!

As an aside, as someone noted in the comments, did you notice the diversity of these nine candidates? Four men, five women. Five white people, three black, and I believe Ortiz’ mother is Philippino (Ortiz is also an open lesbian).

UPDATE: I’m happy to report that I’ve cleared up a problem with John Barrow (GA-SoS)...for some reason it wasn’t showing up as a recipient option at ActBlue, but they’ve fixed it so now donations will go directly to his account instead of the Georgia Democratic Party!
UPDATE: By request, I’ve also added Katie Hobbs, who’s in an extremely tight race for AZ-SOS! She’s currently ahead of her GOP opponent by around 4,000 votes, or a mere 0.19%. The recount threshold for Arizona is 0.1%.
