No wonder House Republicans just can't be bothered to come to work to try to figure out how not to have a partial government shutdown at the end of the week. Look what their supposed leader has been spending his time this month on.
That's the "trailer" for what will be a "docu-series" to be released Tuesday about House Speaker Paul Ryan, the single-most overhyped and least-qualified policy "wonk" Republicans have seen maybe ever. I mean, even Newt Gingrich was able to achieve his Machiavellian goals. But the grandiosity of this thing definitely rivals anything Gingrich has ever achieved.
Decades in the Making, it's called: "There's a reason it hadn't happened in a generation. Big ideas—ideas about the role and size and scope of government—take time to debate, to normalize, and eventually, to become law of land." This grand achievement that no one but him could realize? "[O]ne of the biggest legislative victories of our time with the enactment of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act."
It's a cause, and a career, that was decades in the making. That what he actually has written on his speaker's page. Where he's releasing this multi-part video. Recorded at taxpayer expense. You know the taxpayers who got that $1.50 a week windfall in the tax boondoggle upon which he's apparently staking his next political move (president in 2020?).
I guess he decided his lifelong goal of destroying Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security isn't the note to leave on.
