Received this e-mail today from the Council for a Livable World in support of U.S. Senators Sherrod Brown (D. OH) and Bob Casey, Jr.’s (D. PA) re-election campaigns:
Staggered elections of Senators can be of great benefit to the country, especially in mid-term election years when many constituents are upset about those in power.
This year, that momentum could be with progressives, even those in states that went for President Trump in 2016, like Sherrod Brown of Ohio andBob Casey of Pennsylvania.
Will you help us keep Senators Brown and Casey in office and show President Trump that voters still prefer progressive national security policies over bluster and rhetoric?
Senator Sherrod Brown is the most prominent elected Democrat in Ohio, having risen steadily from the Ohio State House, to Ohio Secretary of State, to becoming my colleague in the U.S. House of Representatives before defeating an incumbent Republican Senator in 2006. Senator Brown is a strong supporter of the Iran nuclear agreement and has urged talks with North Korea. The Council has backed him in House and Senate races, and we are proud to stand with him again.
Senator Bob Casey, known for his national security knowledge despite not serving on the Armed Services or Foreign Affairs committees, was first elected to the Senate in 2006 after serving as Pennsylvania’s Treasurer and Auditor General. He is a firm supporter of the Iran nuclear agreement and Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, and supports negotiations with Russia to reduce each country’s nuclear arsenals. We have endorsed him since his first Senate bid in 2006, and we are proud to endorse him for a third time.
Will you help us send Senators Brown and Casey back to the Senate, where they can continue to champion smart, effective, progressive national security and foreign policy?
Thank you for your constant support.
Sincerely,
John Tierney
Executive Director
Council for a Livable World
Member of Congress (former) 1/03/1997–1/03/2015
