Echoing popular vote loser Donald Trump, Senate Whip John Cornyn tried to use the total fiasco that is Ronny Jackson's defunct nomination to be Veterans Affairs secretary to score political points against Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT). Trump started it in his chaotic chat with Fox & Friends Thursday morning, when he took after Tester who took the lead in vetting Jackson. "I think Jon Tester has a big price to pay in Montana. I don’t think people in Montana—the admiral is the kind of person that they respect and admire. And they don’t like seeing what’s happened to him."
Cornyn, though, took it to a place that obscenely clarifies the difference between Republicans and Democrats when it comes to their jobs.
"I'm frankly a little surprised at how emboldened he has felt," said Sen. John Cornyn (Tex.), the second-ranking Republican senator. Cornyn added: "He apparently isn't too worried about the election."
Yes, he was emboldened to do his job. Which is looking out for the interests of veterans, of which his home state of Montana has a lot, more than any state besides Alaska. Doing due diligence on a person who even plenty of Republicans knew was a train wreck and would be unable to meet the demands of the job. So no, Tester has NO reason to be worried about re-election on this issue.
But by all means, Cornyn, you guys run against him on the fact that he did his job for the nation's vets.
