Today’s comic by Matt Bors is A moral outrage in Gaza:
• Eco-advocates seek information on Trump regime’s elephant trophy policy:
An animal rights group filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the Interior Department Tuesday in a bid to better understand why it changed a long-standing policy restricting the import of trophies from hunted endangered species.
The Florida-based Elephant Project said it is seeking all communication and information exchanged in relation to a March 1, 2018, memo which opened up the possibility of importing such trophies into the United States on a case-by-case basis.
“The Trump Administration is reversing hard fought gains made over the past several decades in the fight to protect elephants,” Elephant Project founder Dane Waters said. He called the U.S. a leader in wildlife conservation but said the country has abdicated that leadership role since President Donald Trump took office.
• 27 major U.S. cities are “abortion deserts”: Women who live in them and wish to terminate their pregnancies have to travel 100 miles or more to get to a facility that will undertake the procedure. For instance, a woman living in Rapid City, S.D., has two choices for an abortion. She can drive 318 miles to Billings, Montana, or 346 miles to Sioux Falls, S.D., the only place in the state with a clinic still performing abortions, although the doctors come over from Minnesota every week.

• Solar panel tariff spurs solar firm to cut back on some projects:
Cypress Creek, one of the largest solar developers in the country, has canceled 1.5 GW of planned capacity as a result of the Trump administration's decision to impose 30% tariffs on imported crystalline silicon photovoltaic modules and cells
Poll—Big gap between younger and older Republicans on climate change:
There are significant divides between younger Republicans – Millennials born between 1981 and 1996 – and their elders in the GOP on a range of environmental and energy issues. One notable difference is that larger shares of GOP Millennials believe that the Earth is warming mostly due to human activity or say that climate change is affecting their communities.
About a third (36%) of Millennials in the GOP say the Earth is warming mostly due to human activity, double the share of Republicans in the Baby Boomer or older generations, according to a Pew Research Center survey. [...]
However, Republicans across all generations are largely in agreement over the consequences of policies aimed at reducing climate change. For example, 44% of Republicans say policies aimed at reducing the effects of climate change make no difference for the environment, and around a quarter believe such policies do more harm than good for the environment. The share of Millennials holding those views differs little from the overall party numbers.
• Fifty years later, a new Poor People’s Campaign kicks off. Co-chair the Rev. William Barber was arrested on the first day Monday. The campaign is expected to run six weeks and cover 35 states. Here is what’s on the PPC agenda.
• Center for American Progress hosts ideas conference:
A mix of Democratic donors and activists gathered in a subterranean hotel ballroom for the event, hosted by the premier center-left thinktank in Washington, for a full day of speakers that began with the senator Sherrod Brown, of Ohio, and the New York Times columnist Paul Krugman discussing the economy and culminated in a keynote speech on democracy from the Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren.
Participants included presidential dark horses like Washington’s governor, Jay Inslee, and Bernie Sanders. [...]
The common thread was that Democratic hopefuls approached the Trump era not with the outrage of #resistance but with a wonky earnestness. Speakers went out of their way to talk about issues like the economy and voting rights instead of Stormy Daniels. On the rare occasions when Russia came up, the focus was on election integrity.
On today’s Kagro in the Morning show: "Everybody’s talking about" the Trump Tower collusion transcripts. Armando dives into the text. Pervy Republican Blake Farenthold skips town on his harassment settlement debt, but lands on his feet. Well, your feet. Feet you paid for, anyway. Again.
