The 61st annual National Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York City yesterday was the first to be held after the ongoing devastating impact of Hurricanes Irma and Maria on the island. It attracted well over a million participants and viewers.
I post a twitter round-up of stories about Puerto Rico every morning here on Daily Kos in Abbreviated Pundit Round-up (APR) and thought the stories about the parade and its message would be good to share with other readers.
Given Presidential neglect, combined with the lack of extensive media coverage of the ongoing disaster in Puerto Rico where there are still American citizens with no power since September 20, 1917, thousands of people living under leaky tarps, and far too many families who still have to boil water, it is imperative that we pick up the slack and keep stories about Puerto Rico and the USVI in the news, via social media and our own networks.
So here’s a selection of tweets — hope you will share them if you have twitter, and/or post the stories to your other social media accounts.
