In a dark week for democracy, I'd like you to see what democracy really looks like. This morning, volunteers pitched in to stamp and label 2,500 postcards in which I remind young voters that "their vote is their voice." Although my picture's on the card, this campaign is not about one person -- it is about one purpose. And when you're battling for the endangered principles of honesty, integrity, and equality there's no way any of us would walk away from the fight we’re facing today.
Like other progressive candidates hitting the trail with a populist message, I’m well aware we’ll be outspent by an opponent who uses corporate cash as a way to beat down rivals. But there’s not enough cash on earth to make us sit down and shut up. Not the people who want government to work for them, and especially not young voters whose future is being jeopardized by career politicians who are busier building more prisons than schools and are more interested in taking payoffs than in helping students who can’t pay off their college debt. That’s why I added this message to this postcard sent to first-time voters:
Through postcards, personal appearances, videos, canvassing, calls and more, we’ll make sure we get the word out and remind people that we’re in this race for one reason: To do the most good for the most people. No strings attached.
If you’d like to learn more and spread the word, that’d be great. My website is www.Gary2018.com. If you’d like to donate, visit my secure site at ActBlue.
See you down the road.
