John Melendez, better known to his followers as “Stuttering John,” made his career for years as one of Howard Stern’s on-air staff. He started by being sent to red carpet events, where he would stutter through inquiries to celebrities and usually ask them incredibly off-color questions. Those recordings would be played on the Stern show. He has a history of interacting with Donald Trump, which you can watch below.
Stuttering John now has his own podcast and today, this happened.
What is going on with the screening process???? Stuttering John Melendez was able to get through to Air Force One, posing as New Jersey’s Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez. At the 1 hour and 8 minute mark, Stuttering John gets through to the president of the United States and grills him on family separation. Trump gets on the phone:
Hi Bob. How are you, congratulations on everything, we're proud of you. Congratulations, you're doing a great job.
It might be assumed that Trump is congratulating Menendez for beating out an indictment on corruption charges. Trump can also be heard saying “You went through a tough, tough situation and I don’t think a very fair situation.”
Sounds about right.
From there Melendez basically asks him what’s happening with families being separated. Trump says he wants a big immigration fix and not a small one. Melendez asks him about the Supreme Court, saying he could support Trump if he doesn’t “go too conservative.” Trump says he has a big list of names.
Trump has no idea who this guy is and, frankly, you realize when Trump is talking it doesn’t matter who he’s talking to, because it’s all hot air.
You can listen to the call starting around 1:08, here. There has been a high volume of traffic since this story broke so the link may get wonky.
