Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein’s (D. CA) re-election campaign:
President Trump is expected to announce his Supreme Court nominee on Monday, and we need to be ready to act to keep his extreme nominee away from the Court until the American people can make their voices heard.
The fact is that the next Supreme Court justice could have a dramatic impact on the fate of Roe v. Wade, gay marriage, guaranteed coverage for pre-existing conditions, campaign finance reform, voting rights, and so much more.
It is clear that our values are at stake with this nomination. Which is why I ask you to join me to demand that no Supreme Court nominee be confirmed before Election Day »
We cannot forget that when President Obama nominated Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refused to hold a hearing or a vote, saying we had to wait for the American people to cast their votes in the next election.
We should uphold this precedent and hold Trump to the same standard: that no nomination even be considered until after the midterm election.
Sign the petition to tell Trump: NO consideration for Supreme Court nominees until after the midterm!
Thank you,
Dianne
