In September, John Weigel, a Naval Air Force veteran, threatened to commit suicide in an emotional speech during a Bernie town hall due to losing his insurance coverage and owing $139k in medical debt. Bernie and his team spoke with him briefly after the event.
Yesterday, John spoke at another town hall. His insurance coverage had been worked out thanks to the support of Bernie’s team, and the help of Nevada senators Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen. John Weigel thanked Bernie for rescuing him and offered Bernie his flight jacket and flight patch from his time in Search and Rescue.

It’s a really touching moment that also underscores the true nature of Bernie’s campaign — he cares about the under-served in our country and he will fight for them.
EDIT: bleeding blue in the comments recommended I add the tweet showing the video of this week’s exchange. The video is also in the article, but I didn’t realize not everyone would immediately click on it. PLEASE watch both videos — both are powerful and tear-jerking in different ways.
