Press Release:
(Tallahassee) Democratic Disability Caucus of Florida offers early 2020 endorsement for Ryan Terrell in HD7 rematch
The Democratic Disability Caucus of Florida is proud to announce our endorsement of Ryan Terrell for District 7 in the Florida House of Representatives. We feel confident that Mr. Terrell's voice will bring much needed - and long overdue - additional representation for persons with disabilities into the state legislature.
"As a long-term advocate for disability rights, Ryan Terrell has lead on many initiatives to expand respect and policies for people living with disabilities, including fighting for access to medicinal marijuana, for restoring the honor and dignity of injured LGBT veterans, and for authoring the 2013 Florida House of Representatives Resolution recognizing April as Autism Awareness Month" stated Karen Clay, the Chair of the Democratic Disability Caucus of Florida.
"As an elected member of the House, Ryan Terrell would ensure students who cannot 'Run, Hide, or Fight' are not automatic casualties - due to their disabilities. His well-developed platform includes a pledge to propose legislation requiring all Individual Educational Plans contain plans for evacuations of students with disabilities in the event of a school emergency. He also pledges to protect the funding of programs vital to the disability community, including Medicaid ibudget waivers and to renew the fight for Florida to expand access to quality and affordable healthcare for all.
It is for these reasons that the Democratic Disability Caucus of Florida encourages our members, voters with disabilities, their families, and all Democrats residing in Florida State House District 7 to support Ryan Terrell in the upcoming 2020 election."
Upon learning of the endorsement, the candidate stated “I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement of my peers and fellow disabled activists in the Democratic Disability Caucus of Florida. As more and more Americans face the challenges of both physical and cognitive disabilities, we need a State Representative in Tallahassee fighting to improve the daily lives of them and their families. Together, let’s reconstruct the legacy of the Florida Panhandle, and leave a legacy we ALL can be proud of!”
