This is my weep and moan.
Bear with me, it gets better.
Stage 5 Chronic Kidney disease.
Better known as Kidney Failure.
I had a CT Scan a couple of weeks ago.
It shows that my kidneys have atrophied.
Hollow pipes.
With all the water in my tissues
I am about 45 pounds overweight.
I haven’t had a drink in months,
but I always feel like I’m hung over.
It doesn’t go away all day.
My tissues are full of fluid
that should have been piss.
Did I mention that I can taste all that backed up whiz-water?
I’ve had a Catheter Port inserted
just below my left rib cage.
When it all heals I can start home dialysis.
As of now, I go in for weekly dressing changes.
They test the port and have removed some fluid .
It makes me feel better.
I go in again tomorrow and I can’t wait.
I will feel better.
I will be on the list for a transplant
once I’ve gotten a few more tests.
So far, four people have applied to be screened
for donating a kidney in my name.
Maybe one will match, maybe not.
The hospital can arrange
a “paired kidney exchange”.
Mary donates a Kidney in my name
but it doesn’t match.
Larry donates a kidney in Joe’s name
But it doesn’t match.
Joe and I swap donors.
They sometimes do this
in long chains of swaps,
involving people traveling from other states,
helicopters, lots of made for TV drama,
with an Oxford comma.
I hope it all goes well
or I may be traded to the Phillies
for a liver to be named later.
If you haven’t TLDR’d this, I thank you.
