This four-part series examines why newly disgruntled Republicans, seeking to return the party of their birth to honor and integrity, have reason to side with Democrats for the short-term. While they may resist changing parties officially, they will understand that the first step in taking their party back is to defeat the #CORPservatives who have corrupted it.
[If you read Part 1, please proceed to the start of Part 2 to sidestep redundancy]
These evolving voters will know that only progressive election legislation, including public not private financing of campaigns, will allow more moderate Republicans a chance to survive the primaries. Only then will incumbents not sail through on billionaire backing.
And with the imminent downfall of Trump, restoring honor to American democracy can only go through Democrats. Republicans who put country over party will have to support that shift. What follows in four parts is how that process of unlikely bipartisanship can be born, fostered, and ultimately used to salvage the American dream.

Part 2: How We Party TrueCons Can Replace the #CORPservative GOP
In Part 1 we introduced the #TrueCon, a true conservative who realizes that the Trump downfall happening now is not just the failure of a flawed and weak man. It also stems from the unbridled gaul of those in his party and a complicit media who built the elaborate facade to sustain the lie.
When all the lies come crashing down, a TrueCon will want to ditch the GOP yet feels cast adrift, stranded in the #SilentCenter, unwilling or unable to side with Democrats. These folks though, knowing they’ve been played the fool by their heroes, may ultimately provide winning margins for Democrats if this shift is approached delicately and respectfully. These newly purple voters need to be seen not as the trolls that permeate dialog online; they are folks now learning the merits of what they’ve been voting against for all these years. Give them time to adjust.
Most progressives hope that sticking to the issues and avoiding party labels is the best way to span the political chasm between left and right. But we’ll need to go further than that. We need a safe place for disgruntled Republicans to land where they’ll feel comfortable voting blue for awhile without having to call themselves Democrats.
To make that possible, We Party Populists uses a different approach. We have three subgroups that each have a voice in the We Party Populists Platform:
We Party Dems, We Party Independents, and We Party TrueCons.
And under the WPP banner they are
Striving Together for a Truly Inclusive America by 2025
The old facade is falling, and today’s GOP will be exposed not as conservatives, but as #CORPservatives: pious with a corporate bias. They only fight for CEOs not average Joes. In that context, they are the shared foe of progressives, independents, and TrueCons.
That distinction is key to the next step: We Party Populists want to help TrueCons take their party back. While all are encouraged initially to #VoteBlueNoMatterWho in general elections until the CORPservatives are gone, WPP wants to help TrueCon candidates in the primaries. They are the ones who can restore morality and integrity for the party they grew up with.
But TrueCon candidates cannot win without something bigger than support. They need the level playing field that can only come when billionaires can’t sweep GOP incumbents to easy victories. The “Optimizing Democracy” part of the WPP platform, or House bill HR 1 currently under consideration, will only become law with a Democratic majority in Congress and a Democrat in the White House to sign it.
So for TrueCons, voting blue in the next election cycle is key to voting a new shade of red down the road.
Yes, there will always be 15 to 20% of Republicans that will still believe every fantastical permutation of coordinated conspiracies that leave Trump innocent. But these people soon will no longer be significant. History will show that a portion of their loyalty will always be tracked back to racism or similar tools of judgement based on unfounded fear.
Imagine what a TrueCon can become without that imprinting, hollow talking points meant to redirect money and power to the GOP and their rich donors. They will be free to logically evaluate all the good that progressive policies can do for their families, their jobs, their water, and America’s standing the world over. If they are Christian, they will understand that the We Party Populists Platform is a better embodiment of the Golden Rule than anything CORPservatives would ever roll out.
They will see how the Republican perspective may change without the mandate of hate. They will see a reason to love their neighbor. While the success and empathy in Democratic goals will improve their lives and future prospects, the We Party TrueCon concept encourages them to take back their party, rebranding it as a center-right entity where the abortion issue can no longer be the dominant issue once the CORPservative hypocrisy is discarded.
Only Democrats act as if new babies are precious, pushing for daycare and pre-K funding. By fighting against these things, the GOP has demonstrated that funneling money to their donors takes priority over every newborn. And pregnancy prevention is the best way to limit the number of abortions. Planned Parenthood can be a valued asset in that.
If TrueCons want to resurrect their party because of their stance on guns, all that they’ll lose if We Party Dems are in power are large-capacity magazines and having to wait a couple of days for background checks to go through at gun shows. If they want to stay Republican for lower taxes, the WPP Platform gets them part of the way there.
When TrueCons become the heart of the Republican Party, there will be a legacy with We Party Dems that makes their opponents worthy of honest bipartisan negotiation. When the hatred and absolutism are gone, a two-party system can live up to its original potential.
And thus, if we want a world where #HateMakesNothingGreat, that notion can even make it to the halls of Congress, when both parties understand the importance of honor and respect in the post-Trump era. This is how our nation heals, from the top down.
