As I am watching the way Nancy Pelosi is handling the impeachment situation, it reminds me of the joke about the old bull and the young bull standing on a hill looking at cows grazing below. The young bull says, “hey look, let’s run down there as fast as we can and get us one of those cows”. The old bull says, “How about we take our time and get them all”. Nancy wants to get them all.
She realizes that the advantage ultimately belongs to the Democrats as they expose further obstruction by the White House whose refusal to cooperate with subpoenas becomes increasingly more blatant and absurd. Meanwhile, Democrats will keep winning court cases and ultimately get their live hearings. Declaring the beginning of impeachmet hearings in the summer months is not going to engage the largest available audience. They don’t want a be a summer replacement event, they want it to be prime time in the fall. Public awareness and support is crucial to an appropriate resolution.
It is my contention that impeachment inquiries will happen and it will be timed for the largest possible audience ready to listen. The movement toward a critical mass in public opinion favoring impeachment grows with each new opinion poll as an increasingly unhinged President Trump spirals deeper in to his madness for all to see. Some warn the public may lose interest, I see it just the opposite. Human beings are drawn to drama and they want closure. By this administration so boldly denying access to testimony and documents, it has the effect of amping up the intrigue surrounding what is being hidden and the obstruction becomes much more obvious to a larger number of people.
Yesterday by not allowing Hope Hicks to answer ever the simplest of questions, it revealed the lengths to which this administration is willing to go in their cover up and even lapsed in to the comically absurd when Ms. Hicks was told by White House lawyers not to reveal where her office was located in the building.
I believe Nancy Pelosi knows exactly what she is doing and she is planning on getting them all.
