Today is the second anniversary of Hurricane Maria devastating Puerto Rico, on September 20, 2017. 90,000 people on the island are still living under blue tarp roofs. 900,000 people are facing cutoffs to Medicaid funding.
I point a finger directly at Donald Trump. He is the President of Puerto Rico.
His administration has withheld sorely needed funding for Puerto Rico, already authorized by Congress. His administration does his bidding. Republicans in the Senate have co-signed his abject neglect of U.S. citizens.
He has lied, and lied, and lied. He has blamed Puerto Ricans for their suffering after the hurricane.
The mainstream media has done a piss-poor job of confronting him.
Democrats in Congress have put bills on the table to help Puerto Rico. However, all the legislation in the world won’t help, and can’t help — if it doesn’t get through the Senate. Once (and if) that is done we have no guarantee that Trump will lift his itty-bitty fingers to do anything except f**k over Puerto — again.
You can take action.
Vote all those pendejos out of office.
Until then, call your congresspeople. Sign petitions. Donate to groups helping on the island.
Pressure the media to do a better job covering this. Do a better job making noise about all this on your social media.
When was the last time you talked about Puerto Rico with your family, friends and co-workers?
Thank you in advance.
