Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share a virtual kitchen table with other readers of Daily Kos who aren’t throwing pies at one another. Drop by to talk about music, your weather, your garden, or what you cooked for supper…. Newcomers may notice that many who post in this series already know one another to some degree, but we welcome guests at our kitchen table and hope to make some new friends as well.
Please do not attack Democratic candidates or drag primary fights into our community.
I’ve been working as fast as I can on some hand quilting — the upside being I can binge some tv while I do that.
I binged the first season of The Kominsky Method on Netflix. Thanks to Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin and the rest of the cast and some very artful writing, it was pretty wonderful.
This is a story of older people coming to term with grief, health scares, difficult children, financial hardship, and fear of the future. It is also about love — big time. The story may be set in Hollywood, following an acting coach who never made it as an actor himself and his agent, but it really could be about people in any line of work, in any place. You would be hard pressed to find a better buddy story about the healing power of friendship.
The leads are as great as you would expect but there are very funny cameos by familiar faces, including but not limited to Elliott Gould, Jay Leno, and Patti LaBelle. And who can forget Danny DeVito as the friends’ urologist?
That’s my streaming pick for the weekend ahead. I am looking forward to season 2, myself.
And that weekend starts now! Come in, be comfortable, and share your day with friends. Also your menus! This is an open thread.
