I Got The News Today (IGTNT), which is one of the oldest continuous series on Daily Kos, provides members of this community a venue to pay their respects to those who have died as a result of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as in Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, Operation Inherent Resolve, Operation Resolute Support, Operation Joint Guardian and Operation Octave Shield. The IGTNT title is a reminder that far too often the family of an active duty service member receives the terrible news that their beloved has died.
Spc. Nick Bravo-Regules
The Department of Defense announced the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve. Spc. Nick Bravo-Regules, 20, from Largo, Florida, died June 23, 2020, in Jordan while supporting operations in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility, from a non-combat-related incident. The incident is under investigation. Bravo-Regules was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 11th ADA Brigade, Fort Bliss, Texas. DoD News Release
Nick Bravo-Regules grew up in Largo, Florida which is located in Pinellas County on the Gulf of Mexico. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 31, 2017 most likely just after he graduated from high school.
Bravo-Regules’ basic training was at Fort Jackson, S.C. followed by Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon, GA. He arrived at Fort Bliss in March 2018 where he was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 11th ADA Brigade. ~ News Source
Bravo-Regules was promoted to Specialist on February 1st of this year. He deployed in February of this year on what was his first deployment. At the time of his death he was serving as a 25N Nodal Network Systems Operator, tasked with maintenance of tactic and strategic communications networks. ~ News Source
According to Stars and Stripes Spc Nick Bravo-Regules’ death was not a result of Covid19 and is currently under investigation. ~ News Source
This deployment by 2nd Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery Regiment is in support of two missions; Operation Inherent Resolve and Operation Spartan Shield.
Operation Inherent Resolve, according to U.S. Central Command is tasked with eliminating the terrorist group ISIS and the threat they pose to Iraq, Syria, the region and the wider international community.
U.S. Army Central defines the mission of Operation Spartan Shield (OSS) as supporting Task Force Spartan in maintaining a U.S. military posture in Southwest Asia in order to strengthen defense relationships and build partner capacity. Units supporting OSS provide capabilities such as aviation, logistics, force protection and information management, and facilitate theater security cooperation activities such as key leader engagements, joint exercises, conferences, symposia and humanitarian assistance/disaster response planning.
Stars and Stripes reported that the Kuwait-based mission supports operations in nearby combat zones, including Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan. The unit has operated in several locations during their deployment, according to updates posted online, including in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, the anti-ISIS mission in Iraq and Syria.

During Spc Nick Bravo-Regules’ time in-service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Good Conduct Medal.
Specialist Nick Bravo-Regules leaves behind a family, many friends and fellow service members who cared deeply for him. No funeral services have been announced as yet.
