Before the first year of the plague, we had engaged in much commerce with these jovial beer-loving people to our north, accepting their odd mannerisms in exchange for a favorable exchange rate. Now, their with gondolas grounded at the first ominous hunt of a cough or sneeze, and the border firmly shut by our respective lords, we have received few tidings.
What news of our long-standing friends? As their beards have grown, have they forgotten us?
The Unvisitable Lands are now the stuff of rumor.
Today it fell upon Finn and I to check the border, in a wild and unruly stretch to the east of the formerly traveled corridors of commerce. We gazed north upon vast lands, beautiful and inviting, to which we knew we could not go.
Our great white watcher reassured us from behind.
Their city seemed strangely quiet from afar. Is it still inhabited?
We verified that no Canadians were encroaching on our waters.
The mighty Liumchem Mountain loomed above us, unvisitable.
At a fine meadow 6 miles west of where we had parked our steed, we turned around and walked back east, assured that the border is still secure.
In our patrol, we saw ten people, none of whom appeared to be invading Canadians. But you never know, eh?

The Canyon Ridge Trail in Whatcom County WA is not often visited especially in its farther reaches, perhaps due to the absence of a specific destination such as a peak or lake. But to a dog, it’s a very fine place for a walk.
