For anyone who is even remotely considering voting third party or sitting this one out because Joe Biden and Kamala Harris aren’t progressively pure enough, hopefully the title graphic is instructive.
In this coming election, the Republicans are pulling out the stops to stay in power. One of the tactics is to target progressives with disaffection about the insufficiently progressive purity of our Democratic Party nominees, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. If you’re seeing posts along these lines on any social media channel, the odds are that they were generated, promoted, and /or targeted — at you — by right wing groups trying to push the election to Trump.
There is still some chance at preventing the Republicans from jamming a new justice through to replace the immortal RBG. An electoral tidal wave could well move the needle on that, with a few as 4 R Senators needing to exercise some basic measure of principle or political self-preservation.
BUT it’s not just RBG. On average, one Supreme Court vacancy arises per 4-year Presidential term. A key outcome of the pending election will be whether we can avoid as much as a 7-2 right wing majority on the court, with all that would entail.
Joe Biden wasn’t my first, second, or third choice in the primary. [Disclosure: Warren, Harris, in that order]. But Joe is a good and decent man, and Kamala Harris is a strong choice for VP and future President . As President, Joe will restore the rule of law, environmental and climate protection, and LGBT and other human rights that have been under assault. He’s got my vote, and that of everyone else I can convince.
