This man is my state senator.
It is painful to admit this.
Yes, this man who asked if Black people got the coronavirus because they didn't have better hygiene practices.
Yes, this man was fired from his ER physician job because his question in the hearing.
His type of questioning in that hearing is a small part of what I have dealt with white people in the rural areas in the state senate district.
I have heard questions like that most of my life.
You would think he would have been censured because of that questioning.
That didn't happen because the state legislative, and the state executive branches are controlled by the Ohio Republican Party.
What makes this crazy is he is heading the state Senate Health Committee and his cousin, Ohio State Senator Matt Huffman, is helping him.
I'm ready to flip this seat blue; I am also cautious about who the Ohio Republican Party will support.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Trump supporting/enabling Republicans, like Jim Jordan, Mike Turner, Warren Davidson, Steve Chabot, or Brad Wenstrup, compete for this seat in the Republican Party primaries.
And yes, I also wouldn't be surprised if Republican county sheriffs, Nino Vitale, LarryHouseholder, or any other Ohio Republican state representatives or state senators decide to run for this seat.
I'm even more cautious about who on the Democratic ticket that I know for sure I will not support, like Nina Turner, or Dennis Kucinich.
Joyce Beatty is likely. Emilia Sykes is likely. Connie Pilich, even Nan Whaley are likely.
I have a confession; I looked up Marcia Fudge to run against Rob Portman before she was nominated for HUD secretary.
I wouldn't leave out Fred Strahorn, Tavia Galonski, or Rhine McLin.
Jesus, please take the wheel.
