Without real consequences, the white nationalists will keep at it — until they tip the balance of populist power their way. History has told us that “An Army marches on its stomach.”
Steven Bannon is showing us ... that it’s really ‘red meat’ that rabbles the “troops.”
Bannon fires up 'shock troops' for next GOP White House
NBC News, Oct. 2, 2021
[...]
"If you’re going to take over the administrative state and deconstruct it, then you have to have shock troops prepared to take it over immediately," Bannon said in a telephone interview with NBC News. "I gave 'em fire and brimstone."
[...]
Bannon said he wants to see pre-trained teams ready to jump into federal agencies when the next Republican president takes office. For the most part, that means the tiers of presidential appointees whose postings don't require Senate confirmation.
Lest anyone think, Bannon is only speaking rhetorically or metaphorically, let his previous “holy war” battle-cries, inform your “domestic terror” alarm bells …
[...] Now, typically when you have a shadowy figure pulling the strings, they have the decency to at least try to, well, stay in the shadows. Not Bannon. Here's an actual quote that he gave to The Hollywood Reporter after the election:
"Darkness is good... Dick Cheney. Darth Vader. Satan. That's power. It only helps us when they" — I believe by "they" he means liberals and the media, already promoting calls for his ouster — "get it wrong. When they're blind to who we are and what we're doing."
The dude compared himself to Satan, AND HE MEANT IT AS A GOOD THING. It would be so great if we could confidently sit here and be able to believe that most idiotic of excuses the alt-right loves to use in cases like this and say that Bannon was just "trolling." But now he's in power, and we see that he was just being honest. [...]
This wouldn't be quite as scary if it weren't for the fact that Steve Bannon believes we're in a holy war with Islam, according to The Washington Post:
At the same time, Bannon was concerned that the United States and the “Judeo-Christian West” were in a war against an expansionist Islamic ideology — but that they were losing the war by not recognizing what it was. Bannon said this fight was so important, it was worth overlooking differences and rivalries with countries like Russia...
In the past, Bannon had wondered aloud whether the country was ready to follow his lead. Now, he will find out.
“Is that grit still there, that tenacity, that we’ve seen on the battlefields . . . fighting for something greater than themselves?” Bannon said in another radio interview last May, before he joined the Trump campaign.

Steve Bannon Confirms His Involvement in January 6 Insurrection on 'War Room' Podcast
Newsweek — Sept 22, 2021
[...]
"And Bannon had actually been in close touch with President Trump for days before January 6th," said Costa on MSNBC. "Based on our reporting, he privately told President Trump to have a reckoning on January 6th. And he said to the president, it's time to kill the Biden presidency in the crib."
[… on December 30, Bannon convinced Trump to return to Washington D.C. on January 6 ...]
"You've got to return to Washington and make a dramatic return today," Bannon said to Trump, according to the book. "You've got to call [Vice President Mike] Pence off the f**king ski slopes and get him back here today. This is a crisis."
"People are going to go, 'What the f**k is going on here?'" Bannon said of the looming election. "We're going to bury Biden on January 6th, f**king bury him."
I hope the ongoing 1-6 accounting actually amounts to something …

Because the rabble-rousers are telling us that that they are just getting started … that January 6th was just their warm-up act, their calling card — the chaos-fomentors empowering the GOP spineless shills ...
Last May, former Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon made a similar comment on his podcast. “The path to save the nation is very simple — it’s going to go through the school boards,” Bannon predicted.

Bannon’s Counterrevolution by Podcast
slate.com — Sept 15, 2021
“The important thing to know about Steve Bannon’s podcast is that it is one of the most popular shows on Apple’s platform. It has tens of millions of downloads.” So reports Isaac Arnsdorf, who covers national politics for ProPublica. “It has really become a watering hole for far-right figures.” The podcast, titled Bannon’s War Room, has a lot of guests who are loyal to Donald Trump. Many of them believe the 2020 election was stolen. And with these guests, Bannon has started promoting a novel idea, encouraging his listeners to flood the very lowest levels of the Republican party. Says Arnsdorf: “The idea behind this strategy is to take over the party from the bottom up by taking all these precinct positions, which are often not contested and just there for the taking.” [...]
Lest anyone think Bannon is nothing more than a troublesome troll … he is that, but so much more, if his previous statements — AND ACTIONS — are to be any FUTURE guide.
