The Olympic Flight Museum was established in 1998 at the Olympia Regional Airport in Olympia, Washington. Shown below are some of the jets which were on display.
Aero L-39Z0 Russian Roulette
The L-39 is a high-performance jet trainer developed in Czechoslovakia by Aero Vodochody. It was designed during the 1960s. According to the display:
“Unlike earlier models of the L-39, the ZO emerged as an advanced multi-role trainer and ground attack fighter.”
According to the display:
“When used in a trainer role, pilots receive the basic instruction required to move up the ranks to supersonic fighters such as the MiG-29 and SU-27. Currently, the L-39ZZO is still in service with Russia and all the former Warsaw Pact countries.”
Bede BD-5
This is a single-seat homebuilt aircraft created in the late 1960s by aircraft designer Jim Bede. Only a few hundred of the kits were completed and about 30 are still flying.
