Washington Post editorial page editor Fred Hiatt died today. He was 66.
I know he was controversial in these parts. He pushed for the invasion of Iraq after 9-11 and hired the likes of Marc Theissen and a rogues gallery of conservative columnists.
But he also hired Eugene Robinson, Dana Milbank, and Alexandra Petri. He pushed for justice for Jamal Khashoggi.
On balance, I think the WaPo editorial page under his tenure was fairly well balanced, even a little left leaning (that whole reality has a well know liberal bias thing). I think that earns him a RIP.
