Just a quick diary with some bragging.
My son is on the ground in South Louisiana trying to restore cell service. He is the managing partner of a cell tower service company who hasn’t been in the field in 8 years.
I got a report from him about their current operations. Most cell towers have generators and he is performing the initial evaluations of towers along with others from his firm. If the tower is intact he is ensuring fuel is available for testing and determining if anything is needed to get the tower operational.
If the tower can be put into service, he is filling the tank and placing the tower into service on the generator and scheduling others to keep the generator fueled.
If their is any problems he is scheduling a service team and shutting the generator down to keep from wasting fuel.
They are currently in an evaluation phase hoping to get any towers which can be operational running and then moving the next tower.
The next phase involves detailed examinations of the nonoperational towers in order to determine what is needed to get the tower operational.
Once they can get replacement parts his teams will make the repairs with the goal of using the parts available to get as large a region as possible some cell service.
I’m proud to know that they were ready to go as soon as the weather cleared enough to safely begin servicing the towers.
