In an article published September 23, 2021, (30-Year Republican Incumbent Openly Brags About Kickback From Bank) it was well documented that Barbara Carraway, Treasurer of Chesapeake, VA, accepted money from a local bank. In the early evening of September 24, 2021, after Carraway caught wind of the published article, she deleted her original Facebook post and set her account, which was previously public, to private. Carraway’s deleted Facebook post (PDF) clearly demonstrates her unspoken admission of guilt.
Since the senior class did not have prom this year, we held a prom for 10 students, one my great neice. Local bank sponsored the food which was great, pretty decorations , thanks to niece Susan for getting the club house. Thanks to neighbor, Ben for picking up the food, thanks to neighbor, Pam for helping me decorate and taking it down , sister Janice for being the official photographer and everyone for helping clean up.
The quick summary for those that didn’t read the previous article is Carraway, who owns stock in TowneBank, gave a city contract to them, and less than two weeks later accepted a donation for $341.71 from a “local bank” to cover the cost of Olive Garden for her grand niece’s private event.
Corrie Cring is currently on the campaign trail to unseat Carraway, who has been mostly unopposed for the last 30 years. Corrie Cring wants to bring fiscal and ethical responsibility back to the Treasurer’s office.
