Liz Cheney recognized the former guy for the Constitutional threat that he really is. She risked her career to stop him, unlike most others in her party, who do their best to placate him.
Way back in June, Cheney called out the threat that Trump represents, and challenged her fellow republicans to make a choice ...
Liz Cheney: 'Republicans cannot be both loyal to Donald Trump and loyal to the Constitution'
by Myah Ward — politico.com — 06/29/2022
Rep. Liz Cheney, speaking at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library on Wednesday, said it’s time for Republicans to make a choice: Donald Trump or the Constitution.
[...]
“It’s undeniable. It’s also painful for Republicans to accept. And I think we all have to recognize and understand what it means to say those words, and what it means that those things happened,” Cheney said to the crowd at a site long associated with traditional Republican values as reflected in Reagan’s presidency.
“But the reality that we face today as Republicans — as we think about the choice in front of us — we have to choose. Because Republicans cannot both be loyal to Donald Trump and loyal to the Constitution.”

Well that clear and present danger to Democracy, decided to make it abundantly MORE clear — what he stands for. And to what lengths he will go, to reach his authoritarian goals.
It seems that Donald is proving Liz Cheney right — that Donald would tear up the Constitution, if that means he can get back into power (and avoid the flurry of Indictments with his name on them):
The Donald’s recent declaration to “terminate the Constitution” should trigger some warning bells, for those monitoring such “domestic threats” …
A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution. Our great 'Founders' did not want, and would not condone, False & Fraudulent Elections!"

Of course the Party that honors, enforces, lives by the American Constitution has responded to the latest Trump threat with rightful indigitation and concern:
Democrats react to Trump's call to suspend Constitution
by Ivana Saric — axios.com — 12/04/2022
- A few hours ago the leader of the republican party donald trump called for destroying the Constitution and making himself dictator," Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.) tweeted.
- "Every congressional reporter should demand responses from Congressional Republicans about Donald Trump’s call for the Constitution to be terminated … how many of them called themselves 'Constitutional conservatives' during the Obama years???" Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) tweeted Saturday evening.
- "Donald Trump wants to suspend the Constitution in the name of protecting the Constitution, just like he perpetrated election fraud in the name of preventing election fraud," Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.) tweeted.
- "January 6 was Donald Trump’s attempt at terminating the US Constitution. He’s a repeat offender," Torres added in another tweet.
- “Trump’s words and actions are well beyond the bounds of acceptable political discourse, they stoke hatred and political violence, and they are dangerous," Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.) said in a statement.
- "Trump has openly declared himself an enemy of the Constitution, and Republicans must repudiate him," Beyer added.
But the Party of Trump Loyalists have yet to sound a similar alarm — as per their Standard Operating Procedure: “Ignore him, and maybe he’ll go away.”
Will they be enlisted as “Trump Minutemen” and take up arms (and endless investigations), to humor the miscreant(s) they’ve created? (… Under whose constitutional authority will those investigation be held, one wonders?)
Or will the GOP finally heed the warnings posed by one of their own — someone they used to respect — someone who put country before party? You know, to actually DEFEND the Constitution …
Like they ALL have sworn to do:
Cheney then quoted Reagan: “No party and no people and no nation can defend and perpetuate a constitutional republic if they accept a leader who’s gone to war with the rule of law, with the democratic process, or with the peaceful transition of power, with the Constitution itself.”
Time will tell … if this is the GOP’s wake up call, finally.
Given their previous cowardice in the face of the Mean Tweet, I wouldn’t bet on it.
