This series documents stories from the Herman Cain Awards subreddit, tracking the COVID mis- and disinformation on Facebook that is leading to so many deaths. Today’s cautionary tale was a Virginia man who got his medical advice from fart jokes.
Would you rather be farted on by a naked person, or a clothed one?
Exactly.
Also, it might just be me, and I do have a terrible sense of smell, but in two years I haven’t smelled a fart while masked up.
In other words, a racist traitor.
I’ll never understand how assholes waving a literal rebel flag get away with calling themselves “patriots.” Maybe they’re patriots, but not to the United States.
They’re telling me the virus is everywhere, but I told them, “So is oxygen.”
Bet you won’t repost!
Misspelling “prophets” as “profits” is unintentionally and hilariously ironic, given that his sources of information, his “prophets,” are all grifters preying on his weak mind.
His News Max (sic) “profits” told him Joe Biden would be stripped of his victory in two weeks, Donald Trump reinstated. It was ordained by his god!
But when that didn’t happen, did it shake his faith in his “profits”? Did he wonder why he was listening to Mike Lindell and Newsmax? Of course not. They just move on to the next wondrous deadline, and the one after that, and the one after that. Do they simply “forget” the previous proclamations, fixated on the shiny new promises? Or do they rationalize them away? The deep state thwarted the plans this time!
So ironic.
At this point, Joe Biden was supposed to have been ousted, and Trump reinstated. He just ignored the failure of his “profits” to deliver reality.
As for this stupid meme, it’s false. Of course it’s false.
COVID-19 spends mornings scrolling through Facebook posts, determining which people it’s allowed to infect, and which have revoked permission.
“COVID IS CULLING THE WORLD’S POPULATION.”
Okay, thank heavens we have this vaccine, it’ll protect you!
“NO.”
This guy never denied COVID. Furthermore, he considered it deadly, a man-made plot by them to depopulate the earth.
Yet his entire focus was on refusing the measures that would prevent the spread and destruction of the disease—masks and vaccinations. HIs favorite was QAnon TikTok videos, which are all removed now, but their tags are left behind, like these:
“Save the children” is obviously QAnon’s calling card.
Anyway, save for a couple of TikTok embeds, this was his last real post:
Doctors told him that COVID is a killer chicken from the Spanish-speaking world, or a highfalutin’ sport from England. One or the other. That’s what the doctors said, I promise. A Spanish-speaking chicken or a game played on horses. Or maybe a fancy fashion brand by Ralph Lauren. It’s hard to tell really, it’s something like that. Not even mussels are immune from this deadly onslaught. No word on whether clams are affected, however.
Sounds like he refused to take the usual protocol, having read all the conspiracies that Regeneron (which costs $3,000) killed you, with 5G conspiracies joining the party—because why not.
Imagine your last public proclamation before heading off into the great unknown, was about how you had the shits.
Great legacy there, sheesh.
The poor sap. So deep into Newsmax and QAnon, he never stood a chance.
Remember: This one didn’t deny COVID-19 or its danger. He just refused to do anything about it. He wouldn’t even wear a mask, so you can’t even blame it on religious-based Mark of the Beast nonsense. He was opposed to all efforts to defeat a disease he freely admitted was deadly and killing millions. Simply unfathomable.
Also speaks to all the ways the anti-vaxx movement has gotten its claws into people. Some are roped in by religion—fetal lines or the Mark of the Beast—others by fears of 5G or chemtrails, some just don’t want the government “telling them what to do,” and others are afraid of scary-sounding vaccine ingredients. There are the ones that think it’s a global elite trying to “force” people into “compliance,” while others think it’s a plot by dastardly China to destroy our economy. Or maybe it was a plot to deny Trump his rightful reelection. Some think it’s a hoax, others believe it’s just the flu, while others admit it’s real, just won’t do anything about it. Some wouldn’t take the vaccine because it didn’t have FDA authorization, others think it’s been “rushed” now that it has been, and yet others think the vaccine is literally killing millions and even billions of people. Then, somehow, you have to fit in the “vitamins and supplements” crowd, the hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin proponents, the “Big Pharma is making lots of money off me” crowd (as they buy boner pills), and the “hospitals make big money from killing COVID patients” people.
This chaos is a huge advantage for the conspiracy theorists—they can create any number of narratives that fit into any number of people’s preconceived biases. A single story to explain it all would fall apart under the weight of evidence. But 1,000 theories? It’s impossible for anyone to systematically undermine all of the shit that’s being flung against the wall.
“...because politics and conspiracy theories have overrun science.”
Yup. A fitting coda to this story.
