Hi folks! Just wanted to let folks know there will be a bit of hiatus in my critical thinking “Bootcamp” series on logical fallacies and cognitive biases. I’ve got a bit of a family health issue that developed last week and is occupying me at the moment, so my attention is elsewhere and so it might be a couple of weeks (or more, depending on circumstances) before I can resume on any sort of regular basis. I could probably bash one out once in awhile but I hate not being reasonably regular about it, so I’m just gonna hit the “pause button” until we get this situation to a point where I can devote some attention back to the series.
On a personal note, before this whole new family health issue hit the fan (I really, really hate cancer, btw), I did get some good news on my own cancer situation and that is that a little over a month past surgery and I have no visible tumors on my CT scan. Woohoo! The negative is that my CEA blood test still indicates I have some cancer present in my system (which, actually, we expected would probably be the case, but still — you can always hope for better), but the situation has improved substantially from pre-surgery and it seems now that I have a realistic shot at reaching remission (not bad given my oncologist was giving me a 50/50 shot at making it 2 years six months ago. I’m a year in from my original diagnosis now). I’ll be resuming chemotherapy in a couple of weeks after a bit more healing from my surgery. For those who know about such things, my CEA was 14 this time around, which is a whole lot better than the 130’s when I was originally diagnosed, or the 170’s it peaked at before my chemo started to kick in last year.
You’ll still see me in the comments sections and whatnot, so I’ll be around, just not publishing diaries for a bit.
Take care everyone!
