Full disclosure: I own Amazon stock.
In case you missed the stories about the Jeff Bezos feud, or perhaps “spat” is a better word, with President Biden, here are three of them: White House hits back at Amazon’s Bezos after Biden inflation spat from CNBC, Jeff Bezos Bashes Biden's Agenda, Saying Manchin 'Saved' Dems From Themselves from HuffPost, and Biden has the perfect new enemy: Jeff Bezos from Yahoo News.
Here are some too clever by half tweets from Bezos”
What if you use Amazon both for online purchases and for streaming video and want to consider alternatives? Of course if a few people unsubscribe from Amazon the extravagant living Bezos who is now worth about $132 billion, it won’t make any difference to him.
While you know about the other streaming services besides Amazon and unless they have a show you absolutely must see* there are many other choices. However, if you use Amazon Prime to order online as I do you have fewer choices. Consider: The best Amazon Prime alternatives: Cheaper options, just as fast from ZD Net. Unless you primarily want home delivery of groceries there are only really two alternatives to Amazon Prime: Walmart and Target. If you want to make a political statement this article lays out why Target is the best choice: Walmart vs. Target: A Political Divide Among Shoppers from Morning Consult.
Excerpt:
Howe* said that Target has also “always polled very well in brand attractiveness for millennials,” who tend to vote Democratic while they’re young.
In a separate Morning Consult poll of 2,201 adults, conducted Jan. 11-16, consumers who said they prefer Target were more likely to back progressive political stances, while Walmart customers were less staunch in comparison on conservative positions.
For example, 46 percent of those who prefer Target said they would be more likely to buy from a company that supports transgender individuals’ using the bathroom of their choice, compared to 27 percent who said they would be less likely and 27 percent who didn’t have an opinion. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.

How much am I willing to give up to protest Bezos? I could easily start ordering from Target but would I sell my my stock which is doing very well? Amazon Prime with its over 26,000 movies and over 2,700 TV shows certainly offers a lot. But then Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, Apple Plus, Disney Plus, Acorn and other services offer plenty of choices.
I am waiting to see how this all plays out. After all Bezos owns the editorially liberal leaning Washington Post and has allowed it to maintain its journalistic integrity.
Some psychology:
Between Elon Musk and Bezos, what is there about these multibillionaires who want to hog the public spotlight? Don’t they have enough to do what with their ginormous mansions, mega-yachts, private jets that can take them anywhere in the world on a moments notice? Don’t they keep busy enough running their multiple corporations. Lest I leave something out, after getting a divorce from his wife of 25 years after starting an affair with media personality Lauren Sánchez perhaps he ought to make sure he is keeping his girlfriend happy.
Perhaps billionaires like Bezos and Muck are still compensating from some rejection or even bullying which they endured from the popular kids when they were growing up because they were seen as nerds?
Of course, suffering from childhood rejection would be an explanation, not an excuse, for some of his behaviors if even a few of the reports from tabloid type websites like Grunge are to be believed: THE DARK TRUTH ABOUT AMAZON FOUNDER JEFF BEZOS.
Perhaps, on the other hand, the likes of Bezos and Musk are just giant narcissistic weeds ruining our garden.
* Footnote:
If you want to get rid of Amazon for video and still have shows or movies you want to see you can always go back to DVD’s. Many libraries still have collections so you don ‘t even have to pay.
