Good morning everyone and welcome to Thursday’s Morning Open Thread.
Morning Open Thread is a daily, copyrighted post from a host of editors and guest writers. We support our community, invite and share ideas, and encourage thoughtful, respectful dialogue in an open forum.
I’ve come to think of this post as one where you come for the music and stay for the conversation—so feel free to drop a note. The diarist gets to sleep in if she so desires and can show up long after the post is published. So you know, it's a feature, not a bug.

I’ve started working out (not strenuous or anything, just getting into a bit healthier shape) a few mornings a week. It’s hard getting back into the routine, even though I did it for most of my life; just let it lapse some years back because of laziness or tiredness from work or something like that. Going on two weeks now and I am actually feeling a bit different. I’m not in any better shape, but I do feel better, if that makes any real sense. Exercise is so mental and it took me these two weeks to remember that. Now, I’ll take these tired bones off to the shower and ask myself why I didn’t start this years ago.
I do hope everyone is having a fine day today and has time to enjoy the John Lee Hooker. Born in Tutwiler, Mississippi (think northwestern part of the state), he developed his own style of Delta/Hill Country Blues that you’ll no doubt recognize.
