We have a spate of stories circulating on KOS in which Christianity is judged by association with deluded megalomaniacs that claim faith. In response, I would like to offer the community a clear statement of what it means to be Christian:
The Christian proposition is that every choice is improved when it is regulated by Love. While that is clear from social outcomes, a Christian believes as well that love permeates and sustains reality, as it is named: “God.”
As in the New Testament Jesus of Nazareth is revealed as love incarnate, any pronouncement of hatred or justification of violence in the name of Christ is explicitly anti-Christ.
Most of the justification of the GoP’s anti-Christ movement comes from the Old Testament, where after witnessing Humanity abuse his Creation (Noah), God told people to make their own laws. That had the benefit of building rationality but led reproducibly to political and religious tyranny. The summation of Jesus’ ministry is in effect: “OK. You understand now that justice cannot be sustained by human laws. So, trust, instead, in love.”
