I am reading:
Dawn by Octavia Butler-Now that Lilith has gone through metamorphosis, she has been given pen, paper, and books to read. Reminds me a little of Frankenstein, actually.
Now Lilith is going through various dossiers of humans trying to find the one that she will awaken. Reminded a little bit of the Catalogue of Ships from Book 3 of the Iliad.
Sure, any such series in a book of fiction reminds me of the famous passage where Helen tells King Priam of Troy about the warriors coming to rescue her.
Also remembering that we are talking about Lilith, the first woman of a new race. So I like the way that Butler vaguely alludes to myths.
Or are my past studies of myth coming to life?
I’m really enjoying this book!
