Only Wednesday, sure, but that’s about halfway done with the week for me. I have an early day today as I’m heading out down Bayou Lafourche to meet a couple crews at the high school—scaffolding will be erected in the auditorium from floor to deck (12.5 meters or about 41 feet) by a company that assures me my plumbers won’t fall while changing out roof drains; and we’re going to walk the roof to trace out where the new gas piping will be run for the athletic center, boilers, and science wing. Given that it should be a beautiful day, I’d say this is a fine way to start a work day.
I do have to tell you, though, about my new breakfast routine. Well, not a routine yet because I’ve only done it a few times and already skipped breakfast as many times in the past two weeks (which is my usual start of day—just coffee). I’m trying to make healthy smoothies. You know, plain yogurt, orange juice, fruit (I’ve frozen blueberries, pears, and bananas so far). My love makes them and got me to try one when she was down last month; I was surprised how good and filling they were. So, I’m trying to make one in the mornings to start the day and keep my caloric intake down over the course of the day; I can’t say it’s a smashing success, but I don’t mind that changes in lifestyle can come in incremental steps.
Now I need to take my sister’s dogs outside to do their business and get moving toward the start of day. My sister is having a wonderful time in London and sent me a picture of her in a “pub” (which she explained was a “bar”) where Dickens is reported to have written often. I’m not at all convinced Dickens wrote in bars, but I guess he probably frequented the place on occasion and it sounds like a great marketing ploy. Then again, I’m not going to tell me sister that—certainly not after she taught me the word “pub” and all. Ah, older sisters. You gotta love them.
Cheers and I hope everyone has a lovely day.
