There's some confusion about when XM satellite radio will begin running Air America. My sources had said they would start Wednesday morning, but someone posted to say they called both Air America and XM and were told that it would not air within the week, but within the month.
However, XM issued a press release today stating it will indeed air March 31:
XM Satellite Radio [...] on Wednesday, March 31, debuts XM America Left, Channel 167, [...] the highly-anticipated Air America Radio.
And even if you don't have XM or a local station, you can listen online and join the (totally unofficial) launch party here in the diaries! ...
The launch party will just be diaries to buzz about what we hear (and when and where we hear it). The first Air America transmission will be at
6AM ET/3AM PT WEDNESDAY, not at noon (when Franken's show begins). Air America confirmed this on the phone. So here's the launch party schedule:
BEFORE 6AM ET/3AM PT:
Tell us what you hear where you are! Spanish music? Korean talk? Obscure songs from the 1950s? Static?
6AM ET/3AM PT:
Tell us what the changeover is where you are. Is there a warm farewell? A special countdown? Just a final announcement of the old station's name? Or does Morning Sedition come on completely unannounced?
DURING EACH SHOW:
Tell us what you think of the show, starting with Morning Sedition. Do you think it's funny? Do you think it could become part of your daily routine? Do you think one of the hosts has an annoying voice? How does it differ from what you thought it would be like?
