Senator Orrin Hatch, graduate of BYU, five-term Republican United States Senator from Utah and failed bidder for the Republican Presidential nomination (losing to Dumbya) took more money from wine, beer and liquor groups this year than any other congressional candidate. He's also a favorite campaign cash repository of pharmaceutical companies, and worked hard, along with VISA card hawker Bob Dole to give $4 billion in tax breaks to pharma-giants Merck and Eli Lilly for their Puerto Rico operations. Drug companies are also definitely and enthusiastically major Hatch contributors.
That is not all. Hatch, R-Utah, who follows his LDS faith's admonition against smoking, took the fifth-most money this year among all congressional candidates from tobacco interests. The $13,000 he took was more than was donated to such tobacco-state politicians as Sen. Elizabeth Dole, R-N.C. ($11,000), and Rep. Mike McIntyre, D-N.C. ($9,500).
The grand total wolfed by Hatch this year from alcohol, tobacco and gambling bribers is $44,000.
He's also a whore for the oil industry - gleefully - pushing tax cuts of all things.

Senator Hatch (the Snatch) told a "Meet the Press" audience that President "Bill Clinton's 1996 fund-raising activities were "unethical, illegal (and) in poor taste."
This is the same guy who called Democrats the "party of homosexuals," who was himself investigated in 1993 for helping a 'business associate' get cop a loan from the notorious Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI) which swindled more than $8 billion. Hatch defended the bank until the bitter end. Then in an attempt to recover his squeaky-clean mormonesque image, cut his own CD titled "My God is Love"of which he wrote the lyrics and featured himself on the album cover sitting at a piano like Liberace. Now he's teaming up with the Osmond Family in what promises to be a chart killer... laugh
This kind of hypocrisy and sanctimony shows how pathetic the system is. Republicans don't give a shit about the law, they only care about winning the White House.
