I have to admit that I wasn't one of the folks who, at the dawn of scoop, feared that the mojo system was going to be abused. I was pretty sure that Kossacks were going to use the system the way it should be used -- rate up thoughtful and substantive posts, and rate down trolls. 4s for epic pieces of political analysis (and really funny posts), 3s for solid insights (and chuckle inducing stuff), 2s for pedestrian non-trollery clutter ("I LOVE DEAN!!!"), 1s for trolls.
Alas, my faith in humanity has been shaken once again.
I left dKos for a couple weeks to get away from the increasingly nasty intraparty squabbles. But hell, it's two weeks before the Iowa caucuses -- I couldn't stay away forever. I returned to a place even more divided by candidate preference -- but what is really troubling is the way that the mojo system is being abused. I just looked at a diary where just about every pro-Dean post -- even the one liners -- received a 4, or close to it. Meanwhile, Clark people making reasonable statements were getting heaps of 1s and 2s. I'm afraid that this kind of ideological rating is becoming more common.
It ain't a good idea, unless you really do want an echo chamber.
