As I have mentioned in comment threads on occasion, I was recently married. On the advice of friends that have married before us, my wife and I registered for gifts. We were told on more than one occasion that by not registering, a couple is inviting the receipt of all sorts of crap, much of which is for all intents and purposes useless and more often than not unreturnable.
And lo and behold, I received the two things that I most wanted. The first is an incredibly badass Krups toater / convection oven, which we have already put to great use. Secondly, we now have that most useful of counter-top kitchen appliances - a Crock Pot.
Ah, the Crock Pot. High praise is due to the originators of this wonderful device. Tell me - what could be better than tossing a bunch of stuff in a bowl, flipping a switch, and arriving home from work eight hours later to a perfectly cooked meal, as if God himself assigned an angel tirelessly work in your kitchen all day?
In my time here I have seen many great recipes shared. (Thanks be to trolls!) Indeed, I have a Word file into which I copy-and-paste my favorites. But it seems as though easy, one-pot slow-cooking recipes are relatively few and far between.
So, my friends, I seek your help.
I should note: I have just moved above the Mason-Dixon line for the first time in my life, and well above at that. Winter looms on the horizon like some sort of monster. I will need warm food, and perhaps borbon, to survive it.
No dietary restrictions, either self-imposed or otherwise. So let 'em fly!
