"When your political opponent is drowning, throw the son of a bitch an anvil." --
James Carville, political strategist for President Bill Clinton
An anvil, like the anvil George W. Bush threw to the drowning, dying people of New Orleans, people who are still dying right now because of that criminally negligent federal "response."
We watch Americans suffer, die, bloat, be chewed on by rats, and then we hear the Republicans, the corporate media talking heads, even some alleged Democrats cry out, "Now is not the time for pointing fingers." "Now is not the time to assess blame." BULLSHIT!
There never comes a day of reckoning for this corrupt administration. We've seen it time after time after time. With each passing day, the Republicans will spin, the corporate media will shift the blame, and unbelievably, the American people will lose their focus on this criminal catastrophe. If there are no strong voices from the other side
DEMANDING accountability
NOW then there will be none.
The American people want to see, are desperate to see, REAL LEADERSHIP. It's been so long since they've seen it, they can barely remember what it looks like, but they still know it involves COURAGE. At least 60 percent of the American people know that Bush is no leader. They know he's not up to the task, and they're looking, desperately searching for someone who is.
The Americans left to die in New Orleans for lack of water, food and medicine felt abandoned by their nation, and they didn't understand why. All they asked for was hope -- hope that they would stop being lied to, hope that salvation, finally, would arrive.
America itself has been left to die for lack of leadership, and all Americans are asking for is HOPE. They'll know truth when they hear it. They'll know courage when they see it. They'll respond to hope.
The first real LEADER who provides that hope has my vote.
