The mainstream media has been rightfully excoriated for failing to adequately report on the lies and misdeeds of the current administration, but there's a bigger story that THEY HAVE IGNORED COMPLETELY, and for which they deserve FAR GREATER SCORN: the entirely reliable
cooperation of DC Democrats with the Bush administration.
The latest demonstration of this, the craven response of DC Dems to Feingold's censure motion, was no longer necessary to convince even the hardest skeptics. DC Democrats have gone long past the point where they MUST prove to their constituents, beyond any doubt, that they are not working for the opposition. I was gratified to read that Molly Ivins thinks likewise.
In my more optimistic moments, I dream of a "shocking" expose, where it is revealed that, as suspected, the majority of the DC Dems are actually on Bush's payroll. This would be a long-awaited vindication of common sense.
But a more sober take on the situation tells me that this will never happen. The same national media that cheers on at our Iraq adventure can't be expected to suddenly discover a thirst for truth.
