An incredible new poll today from Pew indicates further erosion of support for Bush - overall at just 36% approval. Basically, the only thing keeping Bush afloat is support among hard-core Republicans. Bush has lost significant support from moderate to liberal Republicans. Moreover, the Bush administration is seen as lacking credibility by a strong majority of Americans.

According to Pew, the only factor differentiating Bush's low approval from the abysmal ratings Nixon suffered after Watergate (24%) is Bush's comparatively higher support among hard-core Republicans.
Bush's approval among Democrats and Independents is no stronger than was Nixon's when he was forced to resign. The question must be asked - how long can Bush maintain the charade with hard-core Republicans... even the fundies have limits. Once Bush loses them, will we be entering a dynamic where resignation is a possibility?
