In case you needed any additional evidence that Joe Barton's "sorry that I said I'm sorry" retraction wasn't worth the paper it was printed on, CNN reports it only came after GOP leaders pressured him to to clear the air.
Everybody knows Joe Barton meant what he said. And everybody knows the only reason Republicans want him to apologize is to put out a political fire. In fact, many if not most of them actually agree with Barton.
The net result is that nobody seems to be taking Joe Barton's apology seriously, and given that the GOP doesn't seem to be interested in actually stripping him of his seniority, that means the story isn't going away anytime soon -- not for Barton, and not for the Republican Party.
