Bove is bringing up all the other times Pecker and AMI helped celebrities, etc.
They weren’t running for office.
Then he brought up Rahm Emanuel. ALSO, not running for office (he was Obama’s Chief of Staff at the time).
Don’t fall for it, jurors. It’s a shell game. The prosecution will re-direct and sort that all out. And they will push it in their closing arguments.
Michael Cohen’s testimony in the election interference trial of Donald Trump shall be corroborated by a simple bank statement, on which CFO Allan Weisselberg broke down the reimbursement scheme.
The prosecution has that bank statement, as they told the jury in their opening statement on Tuesday.
While Trump’s defense appears to be the infamous “spaghetti on the wall” strategy, where he denies absolutely everything.
Quoting Jay Kuo: “He could deny that he ever had sex with Daniels, argue he paid her off because she was extorting him, maintain there’s nothing wrong with the paperwork and that he wasn’t even aware of what Cohen was doing, and call everyone else a liar.”
But the prosecution has David Pecker, and his description of the ongoing catch-and-kill scheme.
The prosecution also has Dylan Howard, who assisted Pecker with the scheme.
They have Trump’s gatekeeper, Madeleine Westerhout.
They have Hope Hicks, who was in on the negotiations with Daniels.
They have Stormy Daniels who had sex with Trump, and can even describe his “mushroom.”
They have Stormy's lawyer, who accepted the payment from Cohen.
All of whom will corroborate Michael Cohen’s testimony. Making Cohen’s perceived “veracity-problem” much less crucial.
They have a habitually cheap Trump, who doesn’t pay anybody, suddenly OVERPAYING Michael Cohen a lot of money.
They have Cohen mortgaging his own home, to get the money to pay Stormy.
And……….they have the TrumpOrg CFO’s handwritten notes, spelling out the financial details of the entire scheme.
