The GOP wants to hear our ACA stories

by Cordyc

So let's tell them our Obamacare stories.

The site is here: Tell your story to the GOP

I told them this:

I can't wait for Jan 1 to have the Peace of Mind the ACA brings to the Individual Insurance market.  A few years ago I had an outpatient procedure and my rates skyrocketed for 2 years.  My agent had me undergo Medical Underwriting after 2 years and that got me back in a plan at the Tier 1 rate but it is still expensive with a very high deductible.

I am Grandfathered in this plan so I can keep it if I want.  By why would I?  As the letter the carrier sent me reminded me, "Blue xxx may be allowed to increase your rates based upon your health status"!  Translation: get sick and we'll raise your rates.

For the monthly rate I will pay in 2014 for the Grandfathered HSA Plan I can purchase a Bronze HSA Plan with a lower "high deductible" and a few benefits before I hit the deductible. And the GUARANTEE that should I get sick my rates will NOT rise.

I am fortunate to live in a state with a good Department of Insurance who has done a good job of keeping rates reasonable.  So even without any subsidy I will be a winner by getting Obamacare over keeping the Grandfathered plan.

Turns out NBC did not want folks in the USA to see a moving "Tribute to Victims of Terror" segment in the opening ceremony.  So instead they showed Ryan Seacrest talking to Phelps.

It's a beautiful number and you can see it here: What NBC didn't want you to see

I think NBC has some 'splanin to do as to why they cut this and substituted Ryan Seacrest.

Update, Sat 11 am:  Thanks for getting this on the Rec List, 1st time for me.

Mediaite has also picked up the story and has asked NBC why they didn't show the USA this moving dance/song tribute.  So far, no response.

Click here to see Mediaite story including video of the performance

Looks like it is going to be up to us to get this story out and find out from NBC why this was cut in the USA.

Update 2:
NBC has responded:

So when it came time in the opening ceremony for something that has been widely interpreted as a tribute to the 52 victims of terrorist attacks in London in 2005, it's not shocking NBC didn't see lingering on that as helping its overall marketing effort. When asked why NBC didn't show the memorial, NBC spokesman Greg Hughes on Saturday said only that "our programming is tailored for the U.S. audience. It's a tribute to (opening ceremony producer) Danny Boyle that it required so little editing."

I am speechless but I hope you won't be!  ALEC member Time Warner now owns NBC, is this the kind of censorship what we can expect in our future?

Ever since the "war on religion" meme started a few weeks ago I've been wondering, why now?

For most of the past decade 28 of our most populated states have had laws on the books that provide contraception coverage in health insurance plans for workers at secular businesses owned by religious organizations.  Not a peep on the national news radar.  Then WAM!  Suddenly the PR Spin Machine has a "War on Religion" over a minor section of the ACA that has been open for comment for months.

So I ask myself, what else is going on?  Is there a news story that perhaps the Catholic Church wants to distract us from?

I think there is. From the Philadelphia Inquirer

THE FINAL juror was selected yesterday to hear the child-sexual-abuse trial of two current Philadelphia Catholic priests and one former priest.

Common Pleas Judge M. Teresa Sarmina and the trial's attorneys must now select 10 alternate jurors. The trial is expected to last 12 to 16 weeks. Opening arguments are slated for March 26.

Monsignor William Lynn, 61, is charged with child endangerment and conspiracy for allegedly enabling the crimes of predator priests.

The Rev. James Brennan, 48, and ex-priest Edward Avery, 69, are charged with raping separate boys. All three men have pleaded not guilty.

We have been hearing about child abuse and the priestly predators for years and years but this is going to be the very first time this nationwide scandal will have a day in court.  THE VERY FIRST TIME IN COURT?

As the sordid details begin to come out it sure will be good for the Church to have a "War on Religion" meme going strong to deflect the facts and truth.

So stay tuned and let's see how the MSM covers this story as we also watch the RW jihad continue to try and invade our bodies and bedrooms.

Occupy PayPal Scam?

by Cordyc

I'd like fellow Kossacks help in answering the following question, is "occupytheplanet" with its PayPal link to "occupytheworld" a scam?

As Occupy spreads around the Nation, local TV stations are starting to cover the events.  I was readying a story from San Luis Obispo station KSBY about Occupy SLO at the Thursday Farmers Market.  At the end of the story the reporter states, "For more information on the protests nationwide, click here."  The link goes to something called OccupythePlanet.com.

A DOT COM site?  Now that is odd.  The real Occupy sites all have DOT ORG designations.

OK, but who registered the commercial site Occupytheplanet.com?

A Whois search gives the following results:

Registrant:
   mellissa stephens
   15597 gardnersville rd
   demossville, Kentucky 41033
   United States
   Registered through: GoDaddy.com, Inc. (http://www.godaddy.com)
   Domain Name: OCCUPYTHEPLANET.COM
      Created on: 28-Sep-11
      Expires on: 28-Sep-12
   Administrative Contact:
      stephens, mellissa  batman@opensourceworld.us

When you google  "batman@opensourceworld.us"  you will find that batman is a big Ron Paul supporter.

batman statement at Dailypaul

A little more googling and I still have the following questions.  Why is "occupytheplanet" run from a trailer in the Kentucky hills?  Ms. Stephens is also registered at the Bridal Registry at Walmart and the husband to be appears on the State of Kentucky site for Sex Offenders.  He's got a lifetime membership it seems. No I'm not making this stuff up.  Why aren't they active in a Demossville occupy?

If you go to "occupytheplanet.com" web page along with legit links you will also see a PayPal for "occupytheworld.org".  So where are these donations going?

Whois shows:

Domain Name:OCCUPYTHEWORLD.ORG
Created On:28-Sep-2011 20:45:39 UTC
Last Updated On:28-Sep-2011 20:45:40 UTC
Registrant Name:Philip Berardi
Registrant Organization:Industry Advanced Technologies, Inc.
Registrant Street1:P.O. Box 3372
Registrant City:Thousand Oaks
Registrant State/Province:CA
Registrant Postal Code:91359

If you google "Industry Advanced Technologies"  you will find it's "a leading manufacturer of professional camera support equipment and accessories, for the motion picture, television, and broadcast industries.." Philip Berardi is the CEO.  So why has Berardi registered the occupytheworld.org site to get PayPal monies, yet the site for occupy the world is not up yet.  So where is the money really going?  Is Mr. Berardi active in any occupy location?  Why not link to a PayPal to one of the bigger groups like OWS (the orginal) or Occupy LA, if it has an account?

What's going on here?  This does not smell good.

Another question.  How did a small town TV reporter get this link?  Is this being "fed" from some source I haven't noticed?  (I'm going to have to dust off my tin foil hat)

One last question.  When I first googled the site last night I also found a few threads over at Big Government that were discussing occupytheplanet. Hmmm? Could this be some more agent provocateur action?  Let's discuss in the comments.

Have you ever lied about sex?  Come on fess up.

Have we lost our Right to Privacy.  Congressman Weiner sure has.  Yes, he goofed and sent a dumb picture on twitter instead of a DM.  But Breitbart sure picked it up fast.  And made it a cause celebre.  Why?  Is Breitbart violating a basic right to privacy?  Will he now be checking to make sure our legislators only use the missionary position next?

The Constitution gives us a Right to Privacy.  Our rights to control our own reproduction is also based upon our Constitutional Right to Privacy.  See Rowe vs. Wade and Griswold vs. the State of Connecticut (legalized birth control in 1965).

My question to the community is "Do we and our politicians have a right to privacy?"

RIP democracy in MI

by Cordyc

This is bigger than just WI.  While our attention has been focused more to WI we need to pay attention to the other states that are under attach.

In MI they have passed an "Emergency Manager" bill that basically overturns representative government, the very foundation of democracy.

I'm in the blue state of CA and we are seeing lots of organized PR around taxpayer bailouts for our public pension funds.  It's part of the push to turn everyone against the "highly" paid public worker.  But there is more to this story.

Wall Street and large corporation hate our biggest fund CalPers because it is one of the major advocates for real capitalism and shareholder rights.  Google "CalPers shareholder rights" and you'll get a cornucopia of information.

Just this week the Financial Times wrote about a major victory in the fight  here
