Fifty Shades Of Islam

by Cpqemp

Another day another endless debate about Islam and its various degrees of extremism. To the skeptic, it's equivalent to arguing over the strain of bean from Jack and the Beanstalk. Hello, it's a fairytale. "Created by a primate a half a chromosome away from a chimpanzee, and it shows."

That debate gets us nowhere as events prove over and over, again. So lets stop the madness and get to the heart of the matter. I present this debate from 2007 with Dawkins, Hitchens, Grayling, etc. Enjoy:

For months before the election, I cried to anyone who would listen that the nation had an important choice to make.  Fear and ignorance or reason and science. It was easy because the choice should have been obvious. When the choice is dangerous ignoramuses or sane folks who respect government, what's the problem, right? Of course reason and science will defeat bronze age mythology? Wrong. Not in this America.

Low and behold, look what happened. We are now debating vaccinations. What's next, global warming is a hoax, too? Oh, wait. It's time to admit we are a stupid nation.

The cake is baked. I've seen enough since Bill Clinton To know that the religious right in this country are evil and will not stop until their work be done. And we willingly enable their cults of death. We must respect their beliefs. What a sham. Particularly those in our midst.

Demons, spirits, ghosts, promises of heaven and hell. Ignorant text. Ignorant priests. Ignorant followers. Continue to respect at your own peril. You enable the cults. You did this.

Vote with your feet. Find your bliss. The future was yesterday. We're past the event horizon. Once President Obama is gone, who keeps the lid on the crazies? What do the democrats have left? Prayer?

I'm well rested and ready to fight the good fight. Follow the evidence.

Americans have an unhealthy desire to see average people promoted to positions of great authority. No one wants an average neurosurgeon or even an average carpenter, but when it comes time to vest a man or woman with more power and responsibility than any person has held in human history, Americans say they want a regular guy, someone just like themselves. President Bush kept his edge on the "Who would you like to have a beer with?" poll question in 2004, and won reelection.

This is one of the many points at which narcissism becomes indistinguishable from masochism. Let me put it plainly: If you want someone just like you to be president of the United States, or even vice president, you deserve whatever dysfunctional society you get. You deserve to be poor, to see the environment despoiled, to watch your children receive a fourth-rate education and to suffer as this country wages -- and loses -- both necessary and unnecessary wars. Florida Governor asks nation to pray...

by Cpqemp

..for FSU. There you have it, Floridians. There's your strategy.

Remember when the sex crimes at Penn State first came to light? That pos Joe Paterno came outside of his home to meet his adoring fans and offered only this, "Please pray for the victims...yada yada."

What is more cheap, dishonest, foolish, and cowardly than asking for prayers. Yet they cheer him for being so courageous? Wise? And Paterno thought he was being smart, I guess. And he really believed that praying would cure all the torture that happened under his watch. Not sufficient, then, or now.

Please tell me what is more pathetic than that? From our leaders? Some strategy. How long before the next shooting? And the next?

We get what we deserve in life, I guess. Unless you're in the two percent. It's time to send a different message. And it begins with our party.

President Obama, please do the following tomorrow:

1. Reject Keystone
2. Humane immigration reform. Go big.
3. Remove cannabis from the schedule 1 narcotic/illicit list
4. Pardon non-violent substance abuse patients from prison.
5. you add here..

Mr President, they've (GOP) called you nigger from day one. That is an insult to you and to us.

Fight! It's time to take back the narrative. And offer to debate Boehner on live TV.

Where do skeptics go?

by Cpqemp

This will be a short and, imv, serious question for the Democratic Party. Where do we skeptics go? Depending on the source, about 20% of Americans have no religious affiliation. That's a significant minority in today's environment. Could it have made a difference in the last election? What do you offer me? Do you care?

Bonus video just for fun.

Chris Matthews got the memo.

by Cpqemp

There's a reason I like Matthews. Great show today. Hardball's main thesis tonight was the climate denying GOP. David Corn was strong combating the GOP mouthpiece on the program.

David Corn, next time let the anti-science loon dig a nice deep hole then ask it, "where did you go to college?" Pause. If he answers, "Jesus Bible Sham U" that will be enough. Even better, it says, "Ohio State," or "Temple," or any legitimate university. Check Mate.

You say, "what's is their view on climate change?" Have the university phone number at the ready. Offer to call them. Watch the craw-fishing commence.

To all: there is a wedge waiting to be exploited. Science. Drive a wedge between the rotten GOP mouthpieces and pols and their own universities for fucks sake.

Drive a wedge between the gop talking points, Answer, "I'm not a scientist," with "you're not a economist or a gynecologist, either, yet you comment on those issues every day." Nail them again and again.

Talking points: Get some. At every opportunity repeat over and over, "the "ANTI-SCIENCE" Republicans deny climate change, they deny evolution, they deny math (unemployment numbers for example), they deny polls where American are for minimum wage, yada yada fucking yada!

Rinse and repeat, over and over, no matter the topic. Force CNN and anyone else with a brain to disprove our claim, They can not!

The GOP talking head was on his heels. When Matthews asked why Jim Inhofe used Genesis to address climate change, the idiot mumbled "I'm not playing that game..." after calling President Obama "arrogant" three times as he kept trying to change the subject.

Make the GOP play defense FOR A CHANGE. If we don't defeat these loons, we will regret it. Plus, reason and science will be on our side. Win win.

Call them "ignorant" over and over. Play "Hardball!"

Time for new Democratic party.

by Cpqemp

How's this sound? The Democratic Reason and Science Party. Feel better?

Ignorance not allowed.

Everyone says that both parties are broken. The democratic party can't get folks to the polls, even when they know they lose without them. Ignorant.

There is an OBVIOUS difference there for the taking. Smart vs dumb. Evidence vs myth. We can't lose on the facts or the issues, they're fact based. And the media will have to start asking the dolts why they remain stupid. EXPLOIT THAT DIFFERENCE.

Eventually science and reason win, Darwin won in the end.

Show BOTH parties for what they are: Ignorant, lazy, old, dated, anti-evidence. It applies to everything. Economics, wars, the future...

Fuck the current dem party. It is old, tired, cowardly, and dumb. I can get trounced at the polls with a party of one, me. But, I'd still have my dignity and self respect.

Lets turn America on to truth, science, and reason.

Please, someone do something. Skeptics need a place to go, not kos or the dem party where we get hidden for denying evidence. 15 to 25% of America has no place to go.

Good luck, everyone. I voted with me feet. I suggest you consider doing the same. Don't wait for the political system to provided happy living. It won't, you need to do it.

Finally, as the democratic bloodbath commences it will get ugly and will weaken the party even more. As it is now, IT CAN'T EVEN DEFEAT THE MOST IGNORANT, ANTI-SCIENCE RACIST PARTY IN MY LIFETIME. Do you even understand?

It's time for a smart, evidence based movement. 2015 and beyond it no place for the likes of the modern day gop.

I've screamed that today's political choices are clear as well as startling. America has a choice to make regarding its future. We will chose reason and science, or will we choose fear and ignorance? Our lives literally depend on our selection.

The current EBOLA crisis underscores the importance of elections. There will be others. Dems, please, before it is too late...EXPLOIT THIS! It's there for the taking. Sadly, we won't. We're too scared of offending jesus, i guess.  We will not survive a society that is forced to respect idiocy.

And best of all, even if you lose, you'll still have your dignity and self respect. As well as the evidence. You're welcome.

Oh, Chris Matthews, take a freaking biology course, please. I love you but you're embarrassing yourself.

Caltech and The Feynman Lectures Website are pleased to present this online edition of The Feynman Lectures on Physics. Now, anyone with internet access and a web browser can enjoy reading a high quality up-to-date copy of Feynman's legendary lectures.
One of the most interesting Americans, imv. Enjoy.

We never had a chance.

by Cpqemp

It was over before it started. Jesus won. Kos lost. Kos didn't realize that jesus is the straw that stirs the crazy drink. Can't you see that? Remove Jesus and their house of cards collapses like a big pile of dung. Don't believe me? Attend a church. Listen to the religious networks.

I was recently driving through Kansas. There is a christian radio news network that sounds like a legitimate new source. They had a story about evolution. Talked about how the evidence (dino/bird fossils) was being distorted by scientist. It concluded with "birds have always been birds, and reptiles have always been reptiles." To an uneducated person, this source was as good as CBS or the Smithsonian.

Yet, when I simply point out that religion is a hoax here on KOS, I expected a friendly audience. Instead, 10 hides in one day. I can't remember the last hide I did.

I am told by administrators that I was a jerk and should leave religion alone. To treat it as a hobby like stamp collecting. And if it doesn't enter into the public sphere to let it be. Rally? It dominates the public sphere. It is killing us. Literally.

"Evolution is straight from the pits of hell." This is now accepted thinking in our populace. But I should be nice about it. OK, how do I nicely say that christianity is about as real as Jack and the Beanstalk. Tell me how to say that without pissing off a fundie. Please, tell me.

Progressives, including you enablers out there, we never had a chance. The fight was over before it started. Jesus won. We must respect Jesus. Otherwise, I'm a jerk.

Good luck folks. I'm not going to waste my time. I see the writing on the wall. America will slowly become a land of "city states," in my view. People of like mine will be forced to do that as our government is dysfunctional. I'm going to CO. I'm going to live the few days I have left enjoying mother earth. And my pups.

Sam Harris, Christpher Hitchens, and Richard Dawkins would be hidden, here. Or worse, banned. THINK ABOUT THAT.

Please, don't hide Suskind, too.

I'm 50 years old. In all my life, I would have bet EVERYTHING that pot would never be legal in the United State. I was wrong, halleluiah.

Anyway, I want to experience the joy, myself. So, tomorrow morning I'm getting in my car and driving to Colorado for my first visit to that great state. In fact, I'll be looking to move there in the summer if things fall into place.

Beginning Monday, I'm going to be smoking the biggest baddest best tasting buds that I can BUY. Legally. Fuck the seeds and sticks and hustlers.

I'll be staying in Aurora. The hotel rates were affordable. Any ideas, thoughts, warnings, suggestions where to dine, sight see, etc, please advise.

Also, any thoughts on communities in the area that would be nice for a retired stroke survivor who hates tea party traitors and wants medicine to help him get by, to buy a house?

I'll light up one for you!
